Fruits of Labor: Diana's Story
Under her tarp at Pelham Parkway and White Plains Road, Diana repeatedly emphasized the importance of her community, sharing her immense compassion and unwavering commitment to the well-being of Bronx residents. At one point a lady said she couldn’t spend any more cash, Diana didn't hesitate to tell her to take the papaya she wanted, assuring her that she can pay her later. Despite her $10,000 deficit after what happened, Diana still had solidarity with folks around her.
Like many street vendors who have experienced similar trials, Diana has faced numerous challenges. Yet need, support of community and the love she holds for her children compels her to return to this very corner every day, from 4 AM till 8 PM.
Though the rain, thunder, and snow shake her stand, Diana won't leave.
Let us unite in our efforts to ensure Diana's continued presence in this community. Together, we can make a lasting difference in her life.
Diana stays. ✊🏽
